Customer Service:
ViaTalk has been around for longer than most VoIP providers, and though they do not have the massive customer base of Vonage, they are a solid player in the industry. Still, they receive a higher volume of noise and customer service complaints than our top-rated providers, and have been given an F by the Better Business Bureau for lack of response to customer complaints.
ViaTalk shines, though, in the area of pricing. Their current offer is one of the cheapest available - one year of service, including two phone lines, for only $99. This comes out to only $8.25/month for unlimited VoIP access.
ViaTalk offers a few other plans and time commitments, but only their yearly plan is really worthwhile price-wise. If you don't make very many phone calls, you can get their 500 minute plan for $9.95/mo. Overall, we feel that, although most providers don't beat ViaTalk's pricing, a few dollars more a month for better service with a highly-rated provider such as PhonePower or ITP is well worth it.
